Indecision is often mistaken for caution, and the intention behind it is generally honourable.

More information is needed, more options are considered and more stakeholders are consulted. The problem is that additional information rarely removes uncertainty completely. More often, it creates new questions, new debates and new reasons to wait, or to look for even more information.

Organisations spend months discussing decisions that everyone knew would eventually have to be made. Meanwhile, projects stall, costs are incurred, frustrations grow and risks remain unresolved. Teams can usually work around a decision they disagree with. They struggle to work around a decision that never comes.
